Autism Awareness Day
I am always torn each year when this date rolls around. Awareness? Really? With 1 in 68 children, 1 in 42 boys being diagnosed with autism, is there really a lack of awareness that it exists? More a lack of awareness of the cause(s), and what the hell to do about it. I dare say, everyone is aware of autism. If you aren't, you will be. 30% increase in the last two years. Do the math.

Oh, good. It's not just me. I feel the same way about all of those "breast cancer awareness" things that go around on Facebook from time to time with the silly status posts that pique people's interest. What are they doing, exactly? I agree that it's a scary turn to see the rates going up and rather than "awareness," perhaps we ought to have "Honest Conversation About Autism Day" or something..
Love.
awareness starts with the piquing of peoples interest -- there's nothing silly about someone spending their time raising awareness - it's honorable to raise awareness on the behalf of those who can not .I'm grateful to have become aware - especially when it comes to Autism. Through awareness I am able to educate myself and help in any way that I can. Thank You, CoCoe Joe / Little Joe Blow Ind.
